On their first birthday, children would wear this type of special belt, featuring ten embroidered symbols representing wishes for the child’s happiness and longevity. Boys wear a blue belt, and girls wear a red one. This belt is embroidered with patterns of the ten symbols of longevity (known as shipjangsaeng in Korean): sun, stone, water, clouds, pine tree, deer, bulnocho (mushroom of eternal youth), turtle, crane, and peach.
